McCaffe's Store

McCaffee's Store

This brick building at the southwest corner of Third Street and Third Avenue is the oldest of its type in the city.  Built in 1852, it was a cigar store owned by William McCaffe.  It became the site of a heated debate on the issue of incorporating the village.  On December 3, 1853, in McCaffe’s store voters favorably decided the question by a vote of 82 to 52.  The building has been remodeled several times.  1947.
